Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege at Comic-Con
The two upcoming Tom Clancy games are games that I've been looking forward to for a while now. Of course I am talking about The Division, and the subject of this post, Rainbow Six Siege. I really didn't know much about Siege until I saw the Ubisoft presentation at E3 moderated by Aisha Tyler. Her enthusiasm and whit really drew me in. The gameplay was interesting as well lol.
The game we played was a PvE mode. The game type was Defuse, where our goal was to breach a compound and defuse two bombs. As we breach there are enemies to dispatch as we make our way to the bomb. Once we plant the defusing device, the amount of enemies ramp up, and we have to defend the defuser until the timer is up. Rinse and repeat for the second bomb. I was blessed with a good team, we didn't have any deaths or downs. We ended up being 34 points short of the leader board and the extra prizes!
The gameplay is tight and smooth, movements and animations were also nice. I really liked the available class types. I played as a breaching type class called "Thermite". He is equipped with a thermite charge of course. There is also a riot shield class, very good for tanking or defense. For the life of me, I cannot remember the other class types. Each character has the ability to rappel up or down walls, as well as breach through windows while rappelling right side up or upside down. I though that was a really cool touch.
I liked how the gun play felt, the weapons were not overly easy to use which gave satisfaction for each kill. I actually found the contextual lean feature to be very useful. The enemies in this on normal setting weren't too punishing, their AI was tuned to a comfortable level. Playing another difficulty level up would have been enjoyable.
Overall I had a great experience with the game. It was a quality Tom Clancy release, and the team focused play made it very fun! I also came away with three beta codes, so I may figure out a way to promote the blog while simultaneously doing a giveaway.
