Call Of Duty: Black Ops III at San Diego Comic-Con

I got the chance to play Call of Duty Black Ops 3 at Comic-Con. My experience with Call of Duty has changed over the years. As I said in a previous post, Call of Duty hasn't been as fun as it once was. I played nearly every Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare. I enjoyed them immensely from MW1 to Black Ops 1. The fun waned around MW3 and Black Ops 2. It was gone completely at Ghosts, and I played Advanced Warfare briefly with a friend. BUT!!

Activision has recaptured my attention! I thoroughly enjoyed Black Ops 3. The movement mechanics were cool and didn't feel too wild to be able to use effectively. The pacing of the game was swift, and the controls did well to compliment that. The weapons felt as good as any Call of Duty game, which is one area I think this series is very consistent in. They've also added specialty classes with their own abilities and weapons that add variety to the usual selection.

The game mode we played was Hardpoint, which I normally don't play. This time around, I felt Hardpoint did well to showcase Black Ops 3. You had to be quick to get to each point before the other team, and you had to handle your weapon well to keep the point. The new mobility and thrust mechanics really helped you stay in on the action. You've got a boost mechanic similar to Advanced Warfare; you can boost horizontally, as well as towards the direction you are facing. There is also an interesting multi-jump mechanic. The multi-jump was easy for me to grasp as I have played Destiny extensively, and mastered the art of multi-jumps.

I used the Outrider Specialist class, I liked that she had a bow with explosive arrows. Her other ability was Combat Focus, which reveals enemies through walls. She is a very agile character. I outfitted her with a sub machine gun and a pistol to keep my movements as quick as possible. There are five other specialist classes, you can learn about them here.

I felt satisfied with Black Ops 3, It was a lot of fun, it looked good and it played well. I might actually buy this game at full price! If it continues to show impressive things leading up to the launch, that is. I would probably be more convinced to buy it if I had procured a beta code. I didn't do the Zombie experience run through to get one. Oh well.

I'm out!
