Shenmue 3

Shenmue was a very popular series in the past. Although I've never played the games, I've always wanted to. The series was abruptly brought to an end after the second in the series. That cancellation has spawned a huge amount of long lasting dedication. The fans supported and yearned for a continuation of the series for over ten years.

Two days ago during the Sony E3 press conference, those dedicated fans received an olive branch. Shenmue 3 was given another chance at life in the form of a kickstarter campaign! Yu Suzuki, the series director, announced that the future of Shenmue is in your hands. Gamers everywhere rejoiced, and responded in gusto!

The goal for the kickstarter campaign was to raise $2 million within 31 days. In order for Sony to step in and fully fund the development of the game. Within an hour and forty two minutes, the pledged funds reached the million dollar mark. Shenmue overtook the two million dollar goal in under 9 hours! It is obvious that there is a high demand for this game, as evidence by the $3 million plus that have been contributed so far.

I hope that they re-release the first two games in the series, preferably by download. I don't think the idea is that out of the realm of possibility. Seeing as they have such an overwhelming amount of support for number 3. I know it is my fault for never having played them before, but I think this would be a graceful way to rectify that situation.

I am looking forward to the progress the campaign will make in the next 28 days. Also I am excited for the final product!

I'm out.
